Jacques Urlus, Heroic Tenor
The Complete Edison Recordings
Jacques Urlus made almost 150 recordings, beginning with 25 cylinders sung in Dutch for Pathé in 1903, and ending with two electrics for Odeon in 1927. These CDs are devoted to the Edisons, which reproduce Urluss voice during his triumphant Metropolitan seasons, from 1913-1917. His Edison discs, presented here in their entirety, are unquestionably his greatest. This is due in no small measure to the fact that Urluss voice was so magnificently captured by Edisons recording method.
